circle time

In most of the progressive schools,the relevance of the circle time cannot be denied.The school day begins with a circle time for all age groups.The Class teacher facilitates the circle time.Children sit closely in a circle,close their eyes and collect their energies.Here is an opportunity for children to share their thoughts,ideas and suggestions.While they informally bond with each other,skills like expression and language development are encouraged.In the circle time the teacher also tries to build a context for the day.A lot of theme related sharing takes place.Children grow in their awareness,confidence, learn to take turns and respect each others' ideas.Circle time is also seen as an opportunity to resolve group issues and handle concerns.However,the Class teacher should be very sensitive while facilitating circle time.Personal attention to each and every child's needs should be given.
