Choosing the right school for their children is a very significant and sensitive decision made by most of the parents. It could be guided by many factors such as the popularity of a school,infrastructure,structure of the activities,the philosophy of a school,a certain kind of culture or even the values that an institution stands for. However,as a parent I would always be led by my own belief and conviction in the kind of education that I would want my child to go through. My choice of school would depend upon what I am seeking for my child.This would satisfy me and thus help my child be happy.
This takes me to an interaction with prospective parents of a child to be admitted in Nursery. The approaches and practices at this school were very different from many other schools. This being a progressive set up,encouraged parents who truly understood the essence of alternative education and stood by it. The parents of this child had heard of this school as a popular school and wanted their child to be here. They had no clarity regarding what they wanted for their child,were confused and not at all in agreement with the school's philosophy. Here was a set of parents who would be a misfit in the system. They would find it difficult to build their conviction, they would find it difficult to extend the school's work at home. Probably this was not the right school for their child,sooner or later they would realise it.
Choosing the right kind of school for a child would ensure years of meaningful learning and growth.
